The Colorado Energy Office (CEO) intends to release a request for applications (RFA) for its Electric Vehicle (EV) Direct Current Fast-Charging (DCFC) Plazas Grant Program on July 1, 2020. This funding opportunity is designed to increase access to high-speed charging in and around the Denver Metro Area, or other areas as appropriate, for public users and high-mileage fleets like Transportation Network Companies (TNCs). This opportunity is distinct from Charge Ahead Colorado as it expands requirements associated with planning, design, and operation. The result will be more strategic deployment of high-speed charging infrastructure needed by drivers without regular access to home or workplace charging or in need of quick, opportunity-based charging. Awarded applicants will enter into a contract with CEO for the construction term plus five years of continuous plaza operation.
In advance of releasing the Request for Applications (RFA), CEO will host a pre-RFA webinar on Wednesday, June 17 from 1pm-2pm MT. During the webinar, CEO will provide an overview of the funding opportunity including the plaza locations, minimum specifications and requirements, key activities and dates, and administrative information. CEO invites potential applicants and other key stakeholders such as private site hosts, utilities and local governments to participate in this webinar. Following the webinar, CEO will send out a survey to participants to collect feedback and program recommendations.
