Drivers for ‘gig’ services like Uber, Lyft, Postmates, etc. put a lot of miles on their vehicles, and disproportionately come from historically marginalized communities. Helping them go electric can be a big win for the environment and equity – if done well, in a way that centers the needs of those drivers. If done poorly, however, a push to electrify can cause additional harm. This report builds on years of work Forth has done interviewing and working closely with gig drivers.
