The transportation sector in the United States is the leading source of greenhouse gas emissions and is 92 percent dependent on oil. Many people, particularly those in low-income neighborhoods and in communities of color, have borne the brunt of air pollution and a lack of access to clean and accessible transportation options. The status quo of the U.S. transportation systems is threatening human health, the climate, the well-being of communities, and U.S. national security. This toolkit is designed to provide public officials and advocates with model EV policies that accelerate the switch to clean vehicles in an effective, sustainable, and equitable way.
