The U.S. Department of Energy reports that more than 80 percent of electric vehicle charging occurs at home. Approximately 30 percent of U.S. households are multi-family dwellings such as apartments and condos and almost 75 percent of these households have at least one vehicle. For the EV market to reach the entire driving population, EV charging must be made available to multi-family dwelling residents. This paper provides recommendations to aid in designing a multi-family dwelling incentive program that strikes a balance between program flexibility and certain requirements.
