Beginning in March 2014, Foothill Transit has been operating a fleet of 12 battery electric buses (BEBs) in its service area located in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valley region of Los Angeles County, California. These electric buses, produced by Proterra, are 35-foot, composite body buses that are capable of being charged quickly on-route. Foothill Transit is collaborating with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to evaluate the buses in revenue service. NREL published the first report on the Foothill Transit electric bus fleet in January 2016; that report covered the initial data period of April 2014 to July 2015. This report provides an update to the previous report with data from August 2015 through December 2016.
