EPRI used a Transportation Electrification model at three different utilities to examine the effects of investments in public plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging infrastructure on electric vehicle (EV) drivers and utility customers, using the Total Resource Cost (TRC) and Ratepayer Impact Measure (RIM) tests. This analysis simulated EV adoption and charging station use, determining in a simple way the cost for upgrades to the distribution, transmission, and generation infrastructure. This report will benefit any utility interested in the value of transportation electrification and the development of associated programs and infrastructure.
